Details of Disappearance
According to open source information, Katelin Michelle Akens (19 years old at time), was last seen on Saturday, 12/05/2015 in Partlow, VA. Akens was reportedly dropped off at her stepfather's home located in the 200 block of Oak Crest Drive in Partlow, VA.
Open sources further reported Akens as being taken by her stepfather to the Franconia-Springfield Metro station. Akens was planning to take the train to Reagan International Airport. Akens was scheduled to depart DCA en route home to Arizona. Akens was living in Arizona, preparing to begin cosmetology school, and was also being engaged. On the day Akens went missing, her mother reportedly received a text message stating she had boarded the plan. However, Akens never boarded the plane and she's been missing since that date.
Following being reported as missing, approximately 12/07/2015, Akens luggage was located in a ditch along River Road in Spotsylvania County (VA). Her wallet and clothing and plane ticket were inside/with the discarded luggage.
